The comeback
TheShy's Return to Invictus Gaming (2026)
TheShy rejoined Invictus Gaming in December 2024 and played the full 2025 season as the team's top laner alongside Wei, Rookie, GALA and Meiko under coach Daeny. IG finished the LPL 2025 Split 3 group stage 11–3, then beat JD Gaming 3–1 in the regional qualifier to claim the LPL's fourth seed for Worlds 2025. The run ended in the play-in stage with a 1–3 loss to T1 — and for more than seven months, that series stood as TheShy's last official match.
On December 10, 2025, IG announced that TheShy was stepping away from competition and moving to the inactive roster. On June 15, 2026, the organization announced his return: TheShy is back on the active roster for LPL 2026 Split 3, under contract through the end of the 2026 season. The reaction across Reddit and Chinese forums was immediate, with “the GOAT is back” and “one last dance” dominating the discussion.
The 2026 IG roster, officially announced on July 21–22: TheShy at top, Wei in the jungle, Rookie mid, Assum and JiaQi sharing the bot lane, and Meiko at support as team captain, with coaches Kezman, Helper, chengz and Fury. Former starters Jiejie (departed August 17, 2025) and GALA (departed December 1, 2025) had both officially left before this reunion. What remains is a win-now core: three world champions in TheShy, Rookie and Meiko, alongside MSI-winning jungler Wei.

His team history runs from Team WE (2014–2015, as a trainee and streamer) to Invictus Gaming (2017–2021), Weibo Gaming (2021–2023), and Invictus Gaming again since 2024. He has yet to play an official match in 2026 — his season begins on July 25.

TheShy is synonymous with aggressive carry top laners: Aatrox, Jayce, Fiora, Vladimir and Akali headline a champion pool 63 deep, while Gnar is quietly his most-played pick at 65 games. Two of the LPL's most famous commentary lines belong to his 2018 semifinal alone — caster Remember's “Had heaven not given birth to TheShy, the LPL top lane would have stayed in eternal night” (Game 2, Jayce) and caster HaoKai's “The god descends, one hammer for four” (Game 3, Aatrox).
