Minior made its Pokémon GO debut on October 19, 2026, and it only spawns on evenings when a real-world meteor shower is active. You catch it in the wild between 5:00 PM and 11:59 PM local time on shower nights — there is no way to encounter it outside those windows. (GameSpot)

What is Minior in Pokémon GO?
Minior is the Meteor Pokémon: a Rock/Flying-type that first appeared in the main-series games, known for a rocky outer shell that hides a brightly colored core. In Pokémon GO every Minior you encounter in the wild appears in Meteor Form — the same brown shell for everyone — and the color of its core is what collectors are after. (GameSpot)
There are seven core colors, one for each hue of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. A different core color debuts with each meteor shower event, so completing the set means playing across multiple shower nights rather than grinding one evening. (GameSpot)
How to catch Minior
- Play on a meteor shower evening. Minior does not spawn in the wild on ordinary days; it only appears while one of the scheduled showers is active. (GameSpot)
- Play between 5:00 PM and 11:59 PM local time. That is the nightly spawn window on shower nights. (GameSpot)
- Tap Meteor Form Minior on the map and catch it like any wild encounter. Feeding it a Razz Berry first improves your catch odds. (GameSpot)
- Watch the sky between 5:00 and 9:00 PM. During the event windows, shooting stars streak across the in-game sky in those hours — a useful in-game confirmation that the event is live. (GameSpot)
- Claim the free Timed Research. The event offers a free Timed Research line that rewards a Star Piece and additional Stardust, on top of the extra Stardust you get for catching Minior itself. (GameSpot)

Minior Shower schedule
Each scheduled meteor shower is one Minior spawn night (5:00 PM–11:59 PM local), and each one debuts a different core color: (GameSpot)
| Meteor shower | Date | Notes | | ------------------------ | ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | Orionids | October 19, 2026 | Minior's debut night | | Leonids | November 14, 2026 | | | Geminids | December 11, 2026 | One core color debuts in the Northern Hemisphere, another in the Southern Hemisphere | | Eta Aquariids | May 3 | | | Southern Delta Aquariids | July 28 | | | Perseids | August 10 | |
The in-game schedule tracks the real sky: the Orionids are a genuine annual shower whose 2026 peak falls around October 21, with the stream active from late September to late November. (EarthSky)
Minior forms and core colors
Minior does not evolve. Its two states are Meteor Form (the closed brown shell) and Core Form (the colored center). In the main-series games the shell breaks open when Minior's HP drops below 50 percent in battle; in Pokémon GO the practical takeaway is that the core color is fixed per encounter and each color is tied to its debut shower. (GameSpot)
Because one color debuts per shower, the full seven-color set cannot be finished in October — the later showers (Leonids, Geminids, and the 2027 dates) are where the remaining cores arrive. (GameSpot)
Can Minior be shiny in Pokémon GO?
Not yet. Shiny Minior is not available in Pokémon GO as of its October 2026 debut. Niantic typically introduces shiny variants months after a Pokémon first debuts, so a shiny release is likely eventually, but nothing has been announced. (GameSpot)
